Bass Coast Shire Council intends to apply to the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) to change the speed limit on West Area Road, Wonthaggi to 80 km/h, with a short section of the road to become 40 km/h in front of the Hospital. It is also proposed to change the speed limit on Redstone Road to 80 km/h

These changes are recommended to improve road safety along this stretch of road and allow safer pedestrian and vehicle access around the hospital entrance.
