Project Summary
Bass Coast Shire Council’s Infrastructure Delivery department will shortly commence works on Stage 3A Berrys Beach Rd Culvert Renewal, Ventnor. Details of the project and locations are outlined below.
About the Project:
- The aim of this project is to ensure the rural road network is safe and sustainable for the community into the future and appropriate levels of service are maintained. These works will include new concrete culvert, road pavement widening, road sealing and vegetation clearing.
- This project will be delivered over two stages – with Stage 3A culvert renewal works to start early October 2024 and scheduled for completion in mid-December 2024.
- Works for Stage 3B will start in early February 2025 and will involve the remaining 600 metres of road construction to the Ventnor Road intersection. This project is part of Council’s adopted 2024/25 Capital Works Program.
Thank you for your patience during the construction period. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions prior to or during the project.
- Clearing and grubbing including vegetation clearing in accordance with approved Planning Permit.
- Remove and replace existing guard rail.
- Excavate and remove existing culvert including headwall and wingwall and reinstate approaches after installation of new culvert.
- Trim, shape and grade open swale.
- Install new 1200mm diameter triple cell concrete culvert including wingwalls and rock beaching.
- Reinstate road pavement, road spray sealing and line marking.
These works are jointly funded by Bass Coast Shire Council and the Australian Government's Roads to Recovery Program with a total cost of $380,000.
- The contractor is planning to undertake preliminary works (service locations, site mobilisation, traffic sign installation and vegetation clearing) in the week ending 4 October 2024. Council recognises that it can be a challenge to deliver the necessary works and not affect the residents, businesses and road users, especially when much of our work is determined by weather conditions.
- Significant changed traffic conditions including full road closure and detours will be in place from 22 October after the Moto GP for the duration of the project. See traffic management plan below.
- The proposed works are a continuation of the Berrys Beach Road Renewal Project and the culvert renewal at Saltwater Creek and will commence from the end of the recently constructed Stage 2 road works.
- Appropriate traffic control measures will be implemented onsite during these works. Electronic Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be in place to advise of these roadworks and detours.
- This will be a construction zone and for your own safety and that of others, there will be access restrictions, road detours and closures.
- The use of heavy plant and machinery including noisy, and vibration works for construction including earthworks and use of trucks for removal or delivery of materials etc.
