About the Project
Recently, a review of the existing Skate Park Strategy has been completed. This review responds to challenges surrounding a suitable location for a regional skate facility which was a key pillar of the initial Strategy. It provides a new direction regarding a regional facility and further strengthens the need and justification for developing future skate parks throughout the Shire. This includes a local level skate park for Richard Grayden Memorial Reserve in Newhaven and two sub-regional facilities located in Wonthaggi and Cowes.
There has been significant investment from Council in skate facilities since 2018. This includes the major redevelopment of the Cowes Skate Park and new local level skate facilities constructed at Grantville and Corinella. In addition to this, a new local skate park is currently under construction on the foreshore in Kilcunda. Remedial works have been undertaken on both the Inverloch and Wonthaggi skate parks to improve their performance and safety. This review builds on the work already completed and provides a new and exciting direction for skate parks in Bass Coast.
