Project Summary

Bass Coast Shire Council has appointed SR Excavations Pty Ltd to carry out additional Rail Trail Renewal Works from Lower Powlett Road towards Dalyston. These works are a continuation of recent trail resurfacing works carried out between Graham Street and Lower Powlett Road in January 2024.

Construction is scheduled to commence on Monday 15 April 2024 and is scheduled for completion by the end of April 2024, subject to favourable weather, contractor, and supplier availability.

  • The Rail Trail Renewal works from Lower Powlett Road towards Dalyston will improve the delineation, surface and aesthetics along the Rail Trail.
  • This project represents another investment in shared paths with the renewal of the surface which will significantly improve the condition of the Rail Trail.
  • This project will improve safety for all path users with greater connection and accessibility.
  • New signage for the rail trail between Wonthaggi and Anderson is well underway and is expected to be completed in April 2024.

This project is fully funded through the Building and Open Space Renewal Program as part of the adopted Capital Works Program 2023/24.

  • Preparation of the rail trail for the gravel overlay works.
  • Gravel overlay works from Lower Powlett Road towards Dalyston for a length of 1.1 kilometres.
  • Construction works will be programmed with the rail trail open to the public.
  • Appropriate traffic and pedestrian control measures will be implemented onsite with the traffic controllers.
  • The use of heavy plant and machinery including noisy, and vibration works for construction including use of trucks for removal or delivery of materials.
