About the Project

In consultation with the community, Bass Coast Shire Council developed the Climate Change Action Plan (2020-2030) to reduce emissions, build community resilience and ultimately reverse the threat of worsening climate change. The Plan highlights the importance of increasing the uptake of renewable energy across the Shire.

In partnership with Totally Renewable Phillip Island, Council is supporting renewable energy specialists ‘Mondo’ to install seven neighbourhood batteries on Phillip Island to expand the capability of the local electricity grid and support higher installation levels of rooftop solar systems. This ‘proof of concept’ project will support the community and Council’s aspirations to meet renewable energy and carbon targets.

This project is receiving funding from the Victorian State Government through the 100 Neighbourhood Batteries Program.
