As a part of the Pathways Renewal Program, Council has engaged SR Excavations to replace some areas of footpath around the Newhaven Visitor Information Centre to tie in with the Carpark Renewal Project which has just been completed.

The footpath works will begin in July 2023 and they will be completed by the end of August 2023, subject to weather and contractor availability.

A location of the pathway works can be found below.

The aim of this project is important in ensuring the off-street carparks are safe and sustainable for the community into the future and appropriate levels of service are maintained.

Council recognises that it can be a challenge to deliver the necessary works and not affect the residents, businesses, and road users, especially when much of our work is determined by weather conditions.

The total project cost is in the order of $434,000 which is funded by Council’s adopted 2022/23 Capital Works Program.

  • Some underground stormwater drainage and kerb renewal works.
  • Stabilise the existing pavement and overlay with new crushed rock.
  • New asphalt sealed carpark, signage, and line marking.
  • Appropriate traffic and pedestrian control measures will be implemented onsite during these works. This will be a construction zone and we appreciate that for your own safety and others that access will be restricted. Our staff and contractor will notify nearby residents who may be impacted by these works. We encourage road and pedestrian users to allow enough time, and avoid the construction area during these times. Local and emergency access will always be maintained.
  • The use of heavy plant and machinery including noisy, and vibration works for construction such as saw cutting, earthworks and use of trucks for removal or delivery of materials etc.
