About the Project
Bass Coast Shire Council has developed a draft Integrated Transport Strategy, to make getting around the shire safer and more sustainable for all forms of travel.
This Integrated Transport Strategy (ITS) can help better manage car use and provides a set of alternatives, such as walking, cycling and public transport. In addition, this ITS has also provide actions to enhance streetscapes and the vibrancy of townships in Bass Coast.
What we know:
- More than 85% of trips to work that are under 5km are made by car
- Walking and cycling are two of the most popular recreational activities in Bass Coast, yet only 5% of people walk and only 1% ride to work
- Our public transport network is limited, making it hard to get around Bass Coast without a car
- 85% of people who work in Bass Coast also live here
- Car crashes have a big impact on the health and wellbeing of our community members
- More and more people are looking to emerging technologies such as electric vehicles and e-bike to get around
