Project Summary
Bass Coast Shire Council awarded a contract to Loizuo Design & Construction Engineering in April 2024 to carry out construction at the Grantville Foreshore Public Toilet. In recent months, Council worked with the designer & contractor to finalise the detailed design, building permits and approvals.
Construction onsite started in early May 2024 and was completed in July 2024.
- This project seeks to deliver the renewal of community facilities across Bass Coast Shire as part of the objective to contribute to the social health and wellbeing of the surrounding community. After extensive investigation and consultation, it was recommended that the Grantville foreshore toilet block be renovated with an upgrade to provide universal access, public safety and to meet current Australian Standards.
- The table below indicates the changes (existing vs new) being made for this site.
Location | Existing | New |
Grantville Foreshore | I x male cubicle + Urinal & 2 x female cubicles | 2 x Compliant Unisex Accessible Toilet Cubicles |
The total project cost is in the order of $111,000 which is fully funded by Council as part of the Building and Open Space Renewal Program.
- The existing toilet block will be renovated, and the
floor plan changed.
- The site will be fenced off with temporary site
fencing and there will be no access to these toilets during construction.
- Demolition of
sections of brick walls.
- Construction of concrete paths and Disabled
Access Carpark to perimeter of building.
- Signage will be displayed for nearest accessible toilet locations. For further information on these accessible toilet locations, please visit https://www.basscoast.vic.gov.au/community-support-services/accessibility
- Appropriate traffic and pedestrian control measures will be implemented onsite during these works. This site will be a construction zone and for your own safety and that of others, there will be some access restrictions. Our contractor will make every effort to minimise disruptions to foreshore users. We appreciate that these works may present an inconvenience and we ask for your patience during these times.
- The use of plant and machinery including noisy, and vibration works during demolition and construction of the new toilet block.
