Project Summary

Bass Coast Shire Council appointed SR Excavations to carry out Stage 2 of the Emergency Bridge Batter Protection Works on Grantville-Glen Alvie Road, Grantville. The works are located approximately 750m west of Almurta-Glen Forbes Road.

The aim of this project is to reinstate the batter, while adding erosion protection to both the bridge structure and batter. These works will provide protection from erosion for the bridge structure and road at this location.

These works will be funded by Council, in the order of $390,000 as part of Council’s 2023/24 Capital Works Program.

  • Construction of a gabion basket erosion protection structure around the base of the western bridge piers.
  • Reinstatement of the batter and placement of rock beaching erosion protection for the batter and bridge abutment.
  • For safety reasons, this will be a construction zone. Appropriate and approved traffic measures will be in place for the duration of the works. All appropriate works approvals have been issued by the relevant agencies.
  • The use of heavy plant and machinery including noisy and vibration works such as earthworks and the use of trucks for delivering rock and materials to site.
  • We appreciate that these works may present an inconvenience and we ask for patience during these times. Our contractor will make every effort to minimise disruptions during construction. Traffic will be down to 40km/h during working hours for the duration of the works, so it is advised to plan your trip accordingly. As always, emergency vehicle access to properties will be maintained at all times.
