Council commenced road renewal works along a section of Grantville Glen Alvie Road in mid-May 2021. These renewal works were completed in April 2022.

Council received a total of $1.15 million to allocate to the upgrade from Kernot Road along Grantville Glen Alvie Road for a length of 940m towards Loch Wonthaggi Road. The funding received was $804,000 from the Department of Transport's Heavy Vehicle Program and $350,000 from the Department of Agriculture's AgriLinks Upgrade Program.

These programs invest in improving the current state of regional roads to enhance connectivity and efficiency of regional communities and industry. Both programs support practical projects that predominately benefit improving local road conditions in regional areas that involve drainage, shoulder widening and pavement rehabilitations.

Update: 18/03/22

Due to inclement weather and supply issues, our sealing contractor has been delayed in completing the final seal. The final seal took place the week of the 26 March 2022.

This busy road required rehabilitation to improve its existing condition as it provides a vital commuter link between Grantville, other neighbouring rural communities and the regional centre of Wonthaggi.

This road is also a major strategic freight and transport route for larger vehicles servicing the dairy, agriculture and extraction industries. The aim of this project is important in ensuring the urban road network is safe and sustainable for the community into the future and appropriate levels of service are maintained.
