About the Project

This bold, innovative and inspiring tourism project will traverse from Kilcunda to Inverloch. It features three tourism and creative experiences amplifying the discovery of learning through play, embracing our scenery and connecting with the fauna of our region.

Explore Bass Coast will:
• Increase visitation to region by up to 20 per cent
• Increase length of stay
• Add $9.5 million per annum to the visitor economy
• Support 94 jobs in the region each year
• During construction add $23.2 million to the economy and support 134 new and existing jobs

Three physical sites linking Kilcunda, Wonthaggi and Inverloch:
  • Village Green, Kilcunda

    Kilcunda will provide a vantage point for visitors to consider the mighty forces of nature. The Village Green will provide a space for visitors to rest and reflect among the awe-inspiring landscape, complete with shelters and barbeques. The recreational space will become a drawcard for the local community, key events, and visitors. Creative embedded artwork will be driven by First Nations artists at this site.

  • Gondwana Garden, Wonthaggi

    The Gondwana Garden will exhibit the evolution of our landscape and environment from 125 million years ago. It is a large and significant site in Wonthaggi. The Gondwana Garden will house a sound and light multimedia experience and an events space that will provide the town and region with a large, high-quality and visually beautiful space for outdoor events and festivals.

  • Adventure Themed Playspace, Inverloch

    Inverloch will see the development of a new adventure themed playspace that is highly sensory and participatory. The site explores the themes of science, education, landscape and evolution through adventure and play. That provides multiple forms of interactive play andinvite children of all ages to to learn, play and adventure through this incredible themed playground.
