Bass Coast Shire appointed TS Constructions Pty Ltd to carry out building renewal works at the Cowes Rotunda located within the Cowes Jetty Triangle off The Esplanade in Cowes.

This project was undertaken as a part of the 2021/22 Capital Works Building Renewal Program and was fully funded by Council in the order of $600,000.

We wish to thank Wildlife coast cruises for their patience and also appreciate all of our stakeholders co-operation.

Preservation and continued functionality of an iconic heritage listed building within Bass Coast which will serve the community and visitors. The building connects with the history of Cowes foreshore area and was one of the first structures to be built circa 1936.

It will not only serve as a functional building it will also provide education to users and visitors.

The Rotunda works included:

  • Certifications and approvals including building permits from relevant authorities and payment of all associated fees and charges
  • Removal and replacement of timber windows to compliant aluminum windows.
  • Removal of existing entry door and installation of a wider front door (double glazing).
  • Addition of a kitchenette (upstairs).
  • Addition of a toilet in the building.
  • Removal, repair, and replacement of existing roof and structural cracks.
  • Removal of existing staircase and replacement to a complaint new staircase
  • Removal and replacement of the existing floor.
  • Interior and exterior painting
