Project Summary
Bass Coast Shire Council’s Infrastructure Delivery Department will be commencing construction works for Cowes Cricket Nets. The project details are outlined below.
About the Project:
The project includes improvements such as new concrete
foundation, an additional 4 lanes, new playing surface, perimeter fencing, power
points and lockable gates to 2 of the lanes. Installing additional bollards
will prevent vehicles from parking on the surface and power supply to the lanes
removes the need for cords to lay across the ground when the club uses bowling
machines.
We appreciate your patience during the construction period, and please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions before or during the project.
The works include:
- Preliminaries including mobilisation, site establishment and management plans

This project is funded by Bass Coast Shire Council ($69,307.40), Cricket Victoria ($40,000) and Sports and Recreation Victoria ($277,229.60).
- No native vegetation removal required during the works. Since the trees are located close to the new cricket nets trimming will be required to be undertaken.
- Temporary fencing will be in place to secure the work site and keep people from entering to the construction site.
- The football club will be holding a major Easter event on Saturday 19th April that requires vehicle parking. The event brings up to 5,000 people throughout the day and there will be high vehicle and pedestrian traffic volumes. Contractor has been advised to shift the temporary site fencing in close to the site allowing for as much parking as possible along the boundary of the oval and on the roadway up to the training facility.
- No road closure is expected during the construction works.
- Appropriate traffic and pedestrian control measures will be implemented during these works.
- Our staff and contractor will notify nearby residents and user groups who may be impacted by these works.
- The project will result in noise and vibration from heavy plant and machinery used for construction, including earthmoving equipment and use of trucks or crane for removal, installation of nets or delivery of materials to the site.
