2023/24 Annual Budget
Council has adopted its Budget for the next financial year which includes almost $30 million for capital works improvements to cater for the region’s fast-growing population.
We have worked hard to improve the efficiency of the organisation to ensure that all service levels are maintained within the State Government cap of 3.5 per cent.
This Budget supports the delivery of over 100 services to our community and continues our ongoing commitment to improving our environmental sustainability and maintaining services and community infrastructure.
This Budget also continues our strong investment in maintaining capital infrastructure with a
program of $29.4 million, including:
- Playgrounds throughout the Shire - $900,000
- Corinella Bowls Club facility upgrades - $300,000
- Replacement of toilet facilities $700,000
- Inverloch Hub Upgrade works - $600,000
- Dalyston Rail Trail bridge- $300,000
- Krowera Hall upgrades- $300,000
- Cowes Activity Centre Plan actions - $700,000
Also included in the Budget is $13.4 million for leisure and recreation facilities, $16.1 million to maintain and improve Bass Coast’s road and pathway network, $16 million on waste services and $12.9 million to upgrade community facilities.
The Proposed Budget was made available for public comment following the April Council Meeting and 17 submissions were received. Of those, four were heard in person.
In response to the submissions received from the community and additional information that has been provided since the release of the Proposed Budget, there were a number of changes to the final 2023/24 Annual Budget. We appreciate the input from our community and those that took the time to provide their feedback.
The 2023/24 Annual Budget was adopted at the Council Meeting held on Wednesday, 21 June 2023.
