Project Summary

Bass Coast Shire Council’s Infrastructure Delivery Department is about to begin culvert renewal works on Walker Road, Loch. The project details are outlined below. We appreciate your patience during the construction period, and please do not hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions before or during the project.

About the Project:

  • Removal and replacement of the existing concrete culvert structure at the end of its useful life. This action is necessary to protect the road at this location from erosion.
  • The scope of work includes excavating and removing the existing culvert, preparing the subgrade and pipe bedding materials, laying the new concrete pipe and end walls, backfilling and compacting the pipe trench, reinstating the road pavement surface, installing rock beaching upstream and downstream of the new culvert structure, and cleaning up the site upon project completion.

The total project cost is $260,000 which is fully funded by Council.

  • During the construction period, Walker Road will be a designated construction zone, and a road closure plan (attached) will be in place. While local access will be managed on-site, some delays may be necessary. These will be communicated to residents by the contractor ahead of time. Please note that all appropriate works approvals and permits have been obtained from the relevant agencies.
  • The use of heavy plant and machinery will be necessary, including noisy and vibration-intensive activities such as earthworks, saw cutting, and the use of trucks/crane for delivering concrete and culverts to the site. We understand that these works may cause some inconvenience to nearby properties, and we kindly ask for your patience during this time. Our contractor will make every effort to minimize disruptions, and emergency vehicle access to properties will be maintained throughout the duration of the works. Appropriate traffic control measures will also be in place to ensure safety.
