Project Summary

Bass Coast Shire Council’s Infrastructure Delivery department will shortly commence works on construction of Baillieu Street West Laneway in Wonthaggi. Details of the project are outlined below.

Thank you for your patience during the construction period. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions prior to or during the project.

About the Project:

  • The aim of this renewal program through special charge scheme is to improve access for motorists and pedestrians of the community. These works will give residents along the streets and the greater area, a safe connection to existing road network. The program uses observed asset condition (proactive) and inspections with urgent need (reactive) of renewal due to it becoming unserviceable over time.
  • The scope of this program is to renew/upgrade the existing roads assets to a modern-day equivalent
  • Modification of services/pits and associated drainage infrastructure to comply or to improve asset longevity (as required)
  • Clearing and stripping of existing pavement and drainage pits/pipes between Cameron Street and back lane Drysdale Street, Wonthaggi.
  • 5.0m wide concrete pavement, concrete footpaths in Cameron Street, drainage pits and pipe work.
  • Trim, shape open drains and reinstatement of existing driveways and nature strip.

This project is funded by Bass Coast Shire Council in the value of $122,618.

  • Existing pavement will be replaced with reinforced concrete pavement with the renewal of drainage pits and pipes.
  • Access to the properties will be restricted for the duration of construction period. Our contractor will work with the residents and advise them, in advance, of any works affecting access to their properties.
  • Appropriate traffic and pedestrian control measures will be in place throughout the duration of works, including reduced speed limits.
  • Local residents and emergency access will always be available during the construction works.
