Council has appointed O’Brien Electrical of Hallam to undertake electrical works associated with the power upgrade and consolidation of metering at the Wonthaggi Recreation Reserve, Korumburra Road, Wonthaggi.

There are eleven (11) existing buildings with separate electrical metering, plus the proposed development and construction of new recreational facilities at the Reserve, including Soccer Pavilion and Oval 2 floodlighting, Tennis Pavilion, Croquet Pavilion and Netball Pavilion which instigated the need to consolidate the metering system at the Reserve to comply with the Victorian Service and Installation Rules as administered by Ausnet Services. The main power source and distribution is to be consolidated into one single source, as previous electrical connections have generally been ad-hoc with multiple supplies within the reserve.

This project is fully funded through Council’s Capital Works Program for 2021/22 in the order of $450,000, demonstrating Council’s commitment for recreational activities across Bass Coast.

The nominated works will involve:

  • Relocation of Metering to a central chamber/switchboard
  • New conduits and cabling
  • Additional supply points for proposed new buildings

There will be no disruption to electrical supply for the duration of the project. There will be some planned disruptions at the end when the supplies are switched over by Ausnet Services in conjunction with the electrical contractor. This will be communicated to key user groups at the appropriate time.
