Council has appointed Wiltrack Earthmoving Pty Ltd under our annual supply contract to carry out new burial plots at the Wonthaggi cemetery, Cameron Street. This will be the first stage of 3 proposed plot sites.

Works will begin Late March and are expected to be completed in May, subject to favourable weather conditions.

The aim of this project is to advance the development of the cemetery to ensure an appropriate number of plots are available. These works will include but not limited to, plot area ground preparation, lawn beam construction and the construction of a temporary access road.

These works are funded in the order of $130,000 by Council's Capital Works Program 2022/23.

  • Minor vegetation removal along the southern boundary of the cemetery closest to the access road of the Wonthaggi Transfer Station for catch drain works.
  • Earthworks to prepare plot area levels.
  • Construction of concrete lawn beams.
  • Installation of slotted pipe to assist with drainage of plots.
  • Construction of a temporary access road that will be upgraded at the completion of further stages.
  • This will be a construction zone and for your own safety and others, there will be access restrictions.
  • The use of heavy plant and machinery including noisy, and vibration works, including earthworks and use of trucks for removal or delivery of materials etc.
