Wonthaggi Structure Plan Review
By 2036, the Wonthaggi-Inverloch Census Statistical Area is expected to reach over 34 000 people
Wonthaggi is Bass Coast's largest settlement and urban growth area and the regional centre for employment and services. Robust planning is critical to ensure the town continues to support both residents and our wider community.
In 2018, Bass Coast Shire Council prepared the Wonthaggi Structure Plan which built on existing work in the 2008 Wonthaggi-Dalyston Structure Plan.
It is now time again to chart the future of the Wonthaggi township and determine our future directions.
Preliminary Community Consultation occurred 12 September to 20 November 2025 and we hope to share the results soon. Work continues with the Wonthaggi Planning and Projects Community Reference Group to shape the future of wonthaggi. More information can be found here: Wonthaggi Planning and Projects CRG
