About the Project

Bass Coast is known for its wildlife. Fairy penguins, marsupials, and a myriad of bird and aquatic life are all major drawcards that attract tourists from the world over. In order to maintain healthy populations of our significant wildlife within the habitat constrains of the shire, well considered measures to control population numbers are necessary. This may include controls on invasive pest species, as well as limiting numbers of native species in areas where population numbers are unsustainable.

Council advocates for a partnered approach between Council and the relevant state government stakeholders to ensure that wildlife populations are controlled in a responsible, sustainable and scientific method.
