About the Project

The construction of the mountain bike micro trails adjacent to the roundabout on Phillip Island and Back Beach Roads in Sunset Strip is now complete.

Local Trail Co. constructed the new tracks, which consist of a beginner, medium and advanced trail that provide a fun experience for all levels of mountain bike riders.

Council has worked closely with the Bass Coast Mountain Bike Association to design the trails and engaged with local residents to discuss how new vegetation can be added to the site and managed moving forward.

Council also worked closely with neighbouring residents, who came along for the journey and helped ensure the trails would be a positive addition to the area. Visitors are encouraged to make the most of the park's strong local connections by riding to the facility, with the shared path network providing easy access from towns such as Cowes and San Remo - a great way to enjoy the journey as much as the destination.

For those driving, please help support the surrounding community by parking in designated bays along Vision Circuit. If these are full, additional parking is available along Phillip Island Service Road or at the Sunset Strip Reserve car park at the end of the road. Council officers will be monitoring the area, and vehicles parked on nature strips or grassed embankments may be subject to fines.

The trails are the first project to be delivered from the Bass Coast BMX/MTB/Pump Strategy Implementation Plan and is an exciting project that will have local Mountain Bike enthusiasts excited at the prospect of what is to come as more projects are delivered.
