Back Beach Road and Bergin Grove in San Remo require improvements to tackle significant safety and access issues onto Phillip Island Road. Current access issues are anticipated to worsen. The Phillip Island and San Remo Visitor Economy Strategy 2035 states that Phillip Island can expect an additional 4,300 visitors per day by 2035. Phillip Island is the second most visitor reliant economy in Australia behind Uluru.

Council supports Regional Roads Victoria funding request of $26 million allocated to Regional Roads Victoria for the implementation of the Phillip Island Road transport infrastructure improvements in San Remo township at Back Beach Road intersection.
