Bass Coast Shire Council’s Infrastructure Services department is set to begin construction of a series of Watts profile speed humps along Settlement Road, Cowes-Rhyll Road, Cowes, and Potters Hill Road, San Remo

  • The project includes the following road safety improvements near local schools:
    • Construction of 2 Watts profile speed humps and a concrete pedestrian access ramp on Settlement Road, near Cowes Primary School.
    • Construction of 2 Watts profile speed humps on Cowes-Rhyll Road, near St Mary’s Primary School.
    • Construction of 2 Watts profile speed humps on Potters Hill Road, near Bass Coast College, San Remo.
  • Preliminaries including mobilisation, site establishment & traffic control
  • Removal and disposal of existing pavement materials
  • Installation of the access ramp and drainage modifications
  • Installation of speed humps and associated signage
  • Installation of new linemarking
  • Cleaning and demobilisation

Formal Request for Quotation process - $166,025.48

  • Temporary barricading will be in place to secure the work site and prevent unauthorised access.
  • Traffic management will be in place for the duration of the works. Works are proposed to be undertaken while the pedestrian crossing and adjacent footpath are temporarily closed.
  • Appropriate traffic and pedestrian control measures will be implemented during these works.
  • The works will be undertaken during the school holidays to minimise disruption.
  • Our staff and the contractor will notify nearby residents and user groups who may be impacted by these works.
  • The project will result in noise and vibration from plant and machinery used for construction, including earthmoving equipment, concrete/ road sawing and the use of trucks for delivery of crushed rock and concrete.
