Project Summary
Bass Coast Shire Council’s Infrastructure Services Department will soon commence Asphalt Renewal Works on the Newhaven Shared Path, from Boys Home Rd, Newhaven to Cleeland Rd, Cape Woolamai.
The project details are outlined below. There will be periods of temporary pathway closure, for safety reasons, during the vegetation trimming and asphalting works.

The Project
- The renewal of these sections of pathway ensure Council can continue to provide a safe and active connection between existing pathways for pedestrians and cyclists.
- Maintenance trimming works are required to keep the edge of the shared path clear and free of obstructions from encroaching vegetation and to ensure the full width of the shared path is user friendly.
- Trimming of encroaching vegetation.
- Regulation of uneven surface areas.
- Overlay of fresh asphalt surface.
The value of works $122,000 will be fully funded by Bass Coast Shire Council
- The site is located along Phillip Island Rd between Boys Home Rd, Newhaven and Cleeland Rd, Cape Woolamai. Please refer to the site location plan below.
- For safety reasons the path will be closed from 9.30am to 2.30pm for maintenance clearing of vegetation.
During asphalt resurfacing works the path will be closed form 7.00am to 4.30pm.
- Appropriate traffic and pedestrian control measures will be in place throughout the duration of works including reduced speed limits and pathway closures. Emergency access will always be available during the construction works.
- Site signage will be in place to notify of upcoming works and footpath closures. We appreciate that these works may present an inconvenience to some. We ask for your patience during these works.
