Project Summary
Bass Coast Shire Council is undertaking a feasibility study to investigate future options for the McGrath Road Bridge. The study will assess the condition of the existing bridge, explore upgrade options, and provide information to support future funding opportunities and decision-making.
Project Scope
- Road
closure on 8 July 2026 and 9 July 2026 to enable safe access for
inspections.
- Bridge
material sampling and testing using an under-bridge inspection unit.
- Structural
analysis, options assessment, and reporting will be completed off-site
following the field investigations.
What to expect
- McGrath
Road Bridge will be closed from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm on 8 and 9 July 2026.

detour map below.
- Variable
Message Signs (VMS) will be installed approximately one week before the
closure.
- Nearby
residents, businesses, and affected user groups will be notified in
advance of the works.
- We
acknowledge these works may cause some inconvenience and appreciate your
patience while they are completed.
