Project Summary

Bass Coast Shire Council’s Infrastructure Delivery department will be commencing kerb and channel renewal works at the Esplanade, Cowes. The project details are outlined below.

About the Project:

The project includes improvements at The Esplanade, Cowes from Steele St to Bass Ave, Cowes. The project aims to improve the current carpark at the Esplanade, Cowes by lowering the depth of the channel at the edge of the parking bay and installation of wheelstops to prevent further damage to the wall.

The works include:

  • Demolition & removal of inverted concrete drain
  • Demolition of asphalt along concrete drain
  • Modification of existing pits into 900x900 junction pits & connection of existing drainage pipes
  • 40mm depth of size 10 type N hot-mix asphalt wearing course, including cationic emulsion track coat including 195 lm concrete V spoon drain 900 wide with SL-72 Reo
  • 100mm depth size 20mm class 2 crushed rock (base)
  • 100mm depth size 20mm Class 3 (sub base)
  • Supply & install 1650mm concrete wheel stops with M12X300MM Galvanised spikes for asphalt
  • Supply & install red reflectors 70MMX32MM
  • Front In Parking Only signs
  • Supply & install parking duration sign 4P 9AM-5PM with two arrows
  • Remove existing damaged signpost & install new one
  • Blackening out of existing parallel park line marking
  • Car park line marking (Parallel) & 210 m of edge line in longlife
  • Extend car park line marking (Angle) allowance to re-mark each bay longlife

This project is funded by Bass Coast Shire Council to the value of $140,000.

  • Demolition & removal of inverted concrete drain
  • Demolition of asphalt along concrete drain
  • Construction of new inverted concrete drain and installation of concrete wheelstops
  • The carpark will be closed for the duration of the project
  • Appropriate traffic and pedestrian control measures will be implemented during these works
  • The project will involve noise and vibration from heavy plant and machinery used for construction, including earthmoving equipment and the use of trucks and delivery of materials to the site
