Project Summary

Bass Coast Shire Council’s Infrastructure Services department will shortly commence works on the kerb and pit renewal works as part of the 2025/26 Urban and Rural Spray Sealing Programs. Details of the project are outlined below.

About the Project

Council has engaged Bass Coast Civil and Super Paving (Vic.) Pty Ltd through our annual supply contracts to undertake sections of kerb and pit renewal works in preparation for the Spray Sealing Renewal Program as part of 2025-26 Capital Works Program. These works are being rolled out on our road network in Cowes, San Remo, Wonthaggi, Cape Paterson and Inverloch. The Kerb and Pit Renewal Program is about to start and is expected to be completed by mid-November, weather permitting. These works are funded by Council through its kerb renewal and spray seal renewal programs. Some roads (Almurta/Glen Forbes Rd, Cutty Sark Road, Ullathornes Road and Nesci Court) are part funded by the Australian Government through the Roads to Recovery Program and Bass Coast Shire Council.

Kerb and pit renewal works are needed to minimise the level of maintenance required in repairing road pavements due to loss of function in drainage infrastructure. The kerb and pit renewal works will ensure that stormwater flows freely to our underground drainage network. The projects listed below are also linked to our asphalt, kerb renewal and spray sealing renewal programs (further information to be provided) which will start from November 2025.

Thank you for your patience during the construction period. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions prior to or during the project.

  • Remove and replace any damaged kerb and channel in this area.
  • Reconstruct damaged storm water pits in this area.
  • Repair existing failed or damaged road pavement in the area.

Funded by the Australian Government and Bass Coast Shire Council at a total cost of $330,000.

  • Our contractors will advise each property via letter drop with the FAQ sheet, in advance (generally within 2 days) of any works outside their property and will complete their works under traffic control with minimal delays and restrictions.
  • As part of these works, new concrete may be placed through landowner’s driveways. Access to their properties will be restricted for a four-day period following from when the concrete is poured. This is required to allow the concrete to set properly before any vehicles can use the driveway. Our contractor will advise residents, in advance, of any works affecting access to their properties.
  • The use of plant and machinery including noisy, and vibration works such as saw cutting, concrete works and the use of trucks for removal or delivery of materials.
  • Council acknowledges that it can be a challenge to deliver the necessary works and not affect road users, especially when much of the work is determined by weather conditions and availability of contractors. It is expected that there will be some delays to traffic during the works period. Contractors will take all necessary steps to minimise delays to road users. Our contractor will notify nearby residents and businesses that may be impacted by these works. Appropriate traffic control measures will be implemented onsite during these works.
