Project Summary
PROJECT UPDATE May 2026: Works are continuing to progress on the HVAC refurbishment at the Union Theatre, with a key milestone now underway.
We have commenced cutting new penetrations through the external wall to enable installation of upgraded equipment and ducting that will service the auditorium and stage areas. These works are an essential step in delivering a more efficient and reliable climate control system for performers and patrons.
Importantly, temporary HVAC equipment remains fully operational during this phase to maintain comfort levels and minimise disruption to users while works are carried out.
We appreciate everyone’s patience as we complete these improvements and will continue to provide updates as the project advances.
PROJECT UPDATE April 2026: A new platform has been installed spanning the opening between the existing plant decks. This platform will ultimately house new equipment.
In the interim, temporary air conditioning units have been installed and are now operational to maintain environmental conditions within the theatre.
Permanent new equipment has also been installed and is operational for the foyer.
The next stage of works will involve cutting openings in the external walls to allow for the installation of the permanent units, which will replace the temporary systems currently in use.
PROJECT UPDATE March 2026: The
project timeline has been updated, with completion now expected by the end of
April to accommodate delays in the current construction phase.
The project will see an upgrade to the existing heating and cooling system at the Union Theatre.
