Project Summary
PROJECT UPDATE April 2026: A new platform has been installed spanning the opening between the existing plant decks. This platform will ultimately house new equipment.
In the interim, temporary air conditioning units have been installed and are now operational to maintain environmental conditions within the theatre.
Permanent new equipment has also been installed and is operational for the foyer.
The next stage of works will involve cutting openings in the external walls to allow for the installation of the permanent units, which will replace the temporary systems currently in use.
PROJECT UPDATE March 2026: The
project timeline has been updated, with completion now expected by the end of
April to accommodate delays in the current construction phase.
The project will see an upgrade to the existing heating and cooling system at the Union Theatre.

- Cutting of penetrations into external & wall & roof to install new equipment
- Installing new steel plant platform
- Installing new HVAC equipment with crane
- Cleaning of existing ductwork
- Commissioning & testing of equipment
$988,000.00 - Fully Funded by bass Coast Shire Council
- The use of plant and machinery including noisy, and vibration works such as demolition, saw cutting and use of trucks & crane for delivery of materials to site.
- Closure of theatre during works.
