Project Summary

A significant structural issue with the Hade Avenue bridge has been identified during an engineering assessment.

Several bridge piles (the poles that hold the bridge up) have internal voids which reduce the structural integrity of the bridge.

The early feedback from the engineering assessment has recommended an interim load limit of 5 tonnes and a speed restriction of 20 km/h be implemented immediately, until the final report is completed and longer-term recommendations are provided. This is to reduce the risk of further structural damage to the bridge. Compliance from the public with the interim 5 tonne limit and reduced speed limit is crucial, so that the closure of the bridge is not required in the future.

  • Installation of four advanced load limit warning signs at four approaches
  • Installation of speed limit signs

Fully funded by Bass Coast Shire Council.

  • The bridge will be load limited to 5Tonne
  • The bridge will be speed limited to 20km/hour
