Project Summary
A significant structural issue with the Hade Avenue bridge has been identified during an engineering assessment in early 2026. Several bridge piles (the poles that hold the bridge up) have unfortunately deteriorated over time reducing the structural integrity of the bridge.
The engineering assessment has recommended a load limit of 5 tonnes and a speed restriction of 20 km/h remain in place, until longer-term repairs are delivered. This is to reduce the risk of further structural damage to the bridge.
Compliance from the public with the 5 tonne limit and reduced speed limit is crucial, so that the closure of the bridge is not required in the future. Council are currently investigating repair options and further details will be provided once these are complete.
- Installation of four advanced load limit warning signs at four approaches
- Installation of speed limit signs
Fully funded by Bass Coast Shire Council.
- The bridge will be load limited to 5Tonne
- The bridge will be speed limited to 20km/hour
