Project Summary
Bass Coast Shire Council’s Infrastructure Delivery department will shortly commence works on a new footpath along with kerb, pit and drainage renewal along Cutty Sark Rd, between Agar Rd and Kangaroo Way, Coronet Bay. Completing the link between the existing footpaths and improving the effectiveness of the kerbs in the street, ready for the surface to be resealed.
- The new footpath responds to community demand, with walking identified as the most popular activity within the Shire in Council’s Tracks and Trails Strategy 2022, the Active Bass Coast Strategy 2018-28 and the 2021-25 Council Plan engagement.
- This project will improve safety for all road users by allowing pedestrians greater connection and accessibility to travel safely the entire length of Cutty Sark Road.
- Kerb and pit renewal works are needed to minimise the level of maintenance required in repairing road pavements due to loss of function in drainage infrastructure. The kerb and pit renewal works will ensure that stormwater flows freely to our underground drainage network.
- The drainage works will complement the kerb renewal in removing stormwater from the road surface.
- Construction of a new concrete 1.5 metre to 2 metre footpath linking in to existing concrete footpaths on Cutty Sark Rd, Coronet Bay.
- Replace and/ or repair of failing sections of kerb, layback and pits.
- Upgrading of existing drainage.
- Modification of service pits and associated infrastructure to comply with or improve asset longevity (as required).

- Some existing concrete driveways may need to be replaced with plain reinforced concrete at no cost to the property owner. The reason for replacement of some driveways is to allow the correct cross fall to match the new levels for the footpath.
- Access to your property will be restricted for a four-day period following from when the concrete is poured, if your layback or crossover is replaced. This is required to allow the concrete to set properly before any vehicles can use the driveway. Our contractor will advise you, in advance, of any works affecting access to your property.
- Appropriate traffic and pedestrian control measures will be in place throughout the duration of works, including reduced speed limits.
- Local residents and emergency access will always be available during the construction works.
