Help Shape Our Climate Future
Community groups and local organisations were central to developing Council’s Climate Change Action Plan in 2020, and they remain key as we move into the next phase.

As part of the mid-term review, we’re inviting community members to share their progress on climate action, priorities and preferences on emerging opportunities identified so far. We want to understand what’s working, what’s not, and where we can do better—especially when it comes to supporting community and business-led climate actions.

Your feedback will help us assess progress and guide Council’s efforts to cut emissions, build resilience, and ensure a fair transition for everyone.

What have we achieved so far?

  • Powering Council with 100% renewable energy: All Council operations are now powered by 100% renewable electricity.
  • Solar and battery boost for community resilience: We’ve exceeded our solar target, installing 310 kW of new solar panels on Council buildings—well above the original 250 kW goal. We’ve also added 120 kWh of battery storage, built into dedicated resilience centres about to go live (stay tuned!) to help keep essential services running during emergencies in our community.
  • Transitioning Council’s fleet to electric vehicles: We are making progress in our fleet transition that is supported by Council-led public charging stations about to come online.
  • Supporting community-led climate action: through dedicated climate action funding grants and partnership programs.

Legacy of community impact

We’re building on strong foundations of community-led climate action and would love to hear about the progress you’ve made in your household and/or business and how Council could best support climate action.
