Project Summary

Bass Coast Shire will be undertaking condition assessments of Council buildings from late September through to early December. Council is custodian of 500 buildings across the region, each requiring an on-site inspection by a specialist consultant. This project forms part of the 4-yearly review of the Building Asset Management Plan.

Scheduling Notice:

Due to the high volume of inspections being undertaken, Council is unable to provide guaranteed inspection dates or times.
Following contract award, this page will provide weekly updates on progress for effected community group reference.

If your building is scheduled for inspection, Council will contact you directly with further information. To assist with scheduling, please advise Council of any dates when the building will not be accessible due to key programming activities.

Further details will be provided via email from September, with regular progress updates posted on this page.

  • A specialist consultant will be appointed to carry out a comprehensive condition audit of each building.
  • The auditor will tour the building room by room.
  • Take photographs and record details observed.
  • Access service meters and control panels.
  • Inspect roof structure in facilities with safe access.
  • Undertake aerial inspections for select facilities.
During the project period the community can expect to see:
  • Auditors inside community buildings
  • Photography
  • Services being opened or accessed (electrical panels, hot water services etc)
  • Drone piloting (select sites only)

The data collected through these inspections will support long-term management of community spaces. By understanding the condition of each facility, Council can make informed decisions about maintenance, renewal and future investment. These processes ensure Bass Coast Shire achieves the most value from our community buildings.
