How we are planning
Bass Coast Shire Council has prepared the Draft 2026–27 Budget during a period of heightened global economic
uncertainty. While the Budget is based on the best available financial assumptions, it remains a dynamic draft.
Council is continuing to monitor key cost pressures, particularly fuel and capital works delivery.
Should international energy markets or supply conditions change significantly including factors outside of Council’s
control, adjustments to the final Budget may be required to maintain essential services and operations.
The Draft Budget has been developed in alignment with the Long Term Financial Plan 2025–2035 to support Council’s
ongoing financial sustainability while continuing to deliver for a growing community.
Our approach focuses on:
- Maintaining essential services for our community
- Supporting a balanced financial position over time
- Managing capital investment responsibly
- Maintaining and improving community assets where needed
What your feedback can influence
- Priorities and timing of some projects
- Areas of community focus
- Feedback on proposed initiatives and services
What is more constrained
- Costs driven by external factors (e.g. fuel, construction)
- Existing commitments and long-term projects
- Revenue limits set by the State Government (rate capping)
