Project Summary

Bass Coast Shire Council will shortly commence works on Beach Access Stair Renewal Works at Kilcunda Foreshore Carpark West and Mussel Rocks West as part of its Annual Marine Structures Program 2024/25.

Mussel Rocks West works have been completed. Due to a delay in materials, Kilcunda Foreshore Carpark West works are now scheduled to begin in late November 2024.

Works at Kilcunda Foreshore Carpark West are expected to take 1-2 weeks to complete, subject to weather, contractor schedules and supply. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions prior to or during the project and thank you for your patience during the construction period.

  • The aim of this project is to renew the beach access structure to improve safety and accessibility.
  • Existing beach access stairs at these sites will be partially removed and replaced and a new handrail installed. The stairs are well used and, for the safety of residents and visitors, are in need of an upgrade.

This project is funded by Bass Coast Shire Council at a cost of $170,000.

  • For the duration of construction at these sites, access to the beach will be restricted and users are required to use alternate access points, as per site instruction signs.
  • For safety reasons, this will be a construction zone. Appropriate and approved traffic measures will be in place for the duration of the works. All appropriate works approvals and permits have been approved from the relevant agencies.
  • We appreciate that these works may present an inconvenience to nearby properties, and we ask for patience during this time. Our contractor will make every effort to minimise disruptions during construction.
